Recently named the first quartet-in-residence at the San Francisco Conservatory, the Thalea String Quartet is one of San Francisco’s newest up and coming string quartets. Since forming in 2014 at the Zephyr International Chamber Music Festival in Courmayeur, Italy, the Thalea String Quartet has performed a number of recitals in both Italy and the Bay Area. They have worked with members of the Juilliard Quartet, the Kronos Quartet, the St. Lawrence String Quartet, the Ives Quartet and the Alexander Quartet. During their residency at The Banff Centre in June 2015, they worked with Gilbert Kallish, Alasdair Tait and Mark Steinberg.

Christopher Whitley (violin) is originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Kumiko Sakamoto (violin) is from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada; Luis Bellorin (viola) is from Naperville, Illinois, and Bridget Pasker (cello) is from Dubuque, Iowa.
